A survey of leading UK companies on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has highlighted the crisis faced in the supply chain from a worsening heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driver shortage.

Over 100 companies were surveyed to support the CILT’s Driver Shortage Crisis publication, including retailer Marks & Spencer, Premier Foods and haulage group Norbert Dentressangle.

    Until the “rates” go skyward, I`m not turning a wheel for anybody….
    I am being pestered non stop to work for every man and his dog, but the money is at levels where I was earning more 8 years ago….

    If you want decent drivers, you have got to pay a damn sight more than what is being offered today.

    Hi Iam writing on behalf of my son age 24 living in Glasgow is semi skilled joiner work is unreliable could you advise. With the help of the bank of mum and dad would it be worth him going for his Lgv 2 and who would take him on with no experience. He has been driving his own mwb transit for 2 1/2 years he loves driving can you advise please carol
