Bureaucracy and political tension are hindering efforts to provide relief to victims of the Nepalese earthquake. According to this article by freight journalist – and now fundraiser for Nepal – Mike King, some 50 freighters are waiting to bring in equipment but have been unable to secure landing permits. Private individuals appear to be doing better at providing relief than NGOs and the government, but are running out of money, and the monsoon season is fast approaching. “This could be death by logistics,” said one source.
