Despite facing week-long disruptions in mid-May, due to Eid-ul-Fitr-linked holidays and the Covid-19 slowdown, cargo volumes through Chittagong port last month continued to be positive, showing an upward trend on previous months.
In May, some 56,108 teu of laden containers were exported through Bangladesh’s prime seaport, compared with 55,883 teu in April and 60,852 teu in March.
The port also handled 122,121 teu of import containers in May compared with 118,558 teu in April, and 117,006 teu in March.
