There’s an awful lot of weather at the moment. This week, some 4,500 flights have been cancelled in the US, notably in Atlanta, home to Delta, while companies, including ShipCo Transport, have announced that local offices are closing. And Washington, Philadelphia and New York are expected to see severe snow and ice tonight. Over the Atlantic, in the freshwater lake that used to be called the UK, shipping containers filled with concrete are being used to build sea walls in the south-western county of Devon, while inland shipping services (see below) are ferrying people and goods to cut-off parts of the country.
