IATA has published an interesting interview with Fukashi Sakamoto, CEO of Nippon Cargo Airlines, the NYK subsidiary. He talks about the recent strength in the market, but more enlightening is what NCA has been learning from its partnership with Atlas Air: what business is possible for NCA flying under US traffic rights, using Atlas’s “impressive” management system and its flexibility. There are some good nuggets in the interview – not least that cargo airlines should no longer see other airlines as competitors, but customers.
