Panalpina has appointed Volker Boehringer (pictured) to a newly created role: global head of strategic customer development.
Mr Boehringer will take on the role on 1 June with chief executive Stefan Karlen taking on responsibilities as regional chief executive for Europe until a replacement is found.
Chief commercial officer Karl Weyeneth welcomed the appointment: “Volker has a wealth of experience in sales and has always focused on customer and business development throughout his career. I am very excited to count on his knowledge and support to grow our key accounts.”
Mr Boehringer began his career with Panalpina in 1986, holding a variety of roles in accounts, sales management and operations. He has spent the last 16 years in senior management positions.
Mr Karlen described Mr Boehringer as “instrumental” in leading the company’s European operations, adding thanks for his “commitment” and “hard work”.
