The Philippines Cold Chain Project (PCCP) aims to boost income for farmers and improve nutrition for families in the Caraga region, one of the poorest in the country. Co-ordinated by commercial partners and local government, the four-year project is aimed at the horticultural, fish and meat sectors and will directly impact 979,000 people, according to a statement by the US Embassy in Manila. One of the project’s partners, Winrock International, added that the Caraga Region is “a future breadbasket” for the Philippines because of its abundant resources, fertile lands, and ability to supply urban centres like Manila or Cebu.
