It looks as if the UK government is to back down from its plan to force road users to pay for an upgraded A14 – the main artery between the port of Felixstowe and the Midlands, the hub for many of the UK’s distribution centres. Anyone who has driven along the A14 will know how desperately it needs an upgrade. This local newspaper report says the government is to announce tomorrow that it will give the go-ahead for the £1,5bn project and scrap plans for a toll.
