During the last couple of years, as Europe has lagged economically, and the world waits for its currency to fall apart, you could be forgiven for thinking that its time is already over. So it’s perhaps surprising that in this fascinating list from the World Economic Forum of the 10 best and worst economies, Europe takes six of the top spots. In the more depressing list of the worst – which takes into account factors such as child mortality and public debt – African countries took seven of ten places. Only two countries in the whole of the Americas feature at all: the US, and Haiti.
