There has been a plethora of articles in the freight press about the modal shift from air to ocean, not least in The Loadstar itself. However, this shouldn’t mean that air freight salesmen should hang up their hats and go home now, if you’ll excuse the mixed metaphor, because the continued growth in world trade – however weak that may be – means there is always a potentially healthy market for air freight carriers. Despite the sometimes cumbersome English, this article from Cargo Forwarder suggests some air cargo salesmen might be using modal shift to disguise their own incompetence.
