Unrest in Syria and Iraq has depressed the Ukrainian egg export market, says the country’s largest egg producer and exporter. Avangard says that it has seen a 20% drop in export volumes in the first half of 2013. The company reports in World Poultry that it hopes for the two markets to re-open for business this June, allowing Avangard to reach its 1.6 billion egg export target for 2013. The company is also seeking to boost exports of powdered egg, particularly to Korea and Japan.
