There’s been talk recently of how some shippers are moving upstream into the logistics business. This blog, written by a 3PL vendor account manager for Hewlett-Packard, may not win many fans among forwarders, but he is essentially arguing for investment in (and possibly bonuses for) supply chain teams that can negotiate well with logistics providers, have good Customs knowledge and planning skills. Because it’s only through the supply chain, he argues, that profits can be bettered – or lost. Worth a read.
