“Shipping people are eternally optimistic, with one week of good news seeming to help them forget eight terrible years of hardship and financial loss.” This amusing comment forms part of an analysis by Moore Stephens, noting that the confidence in shipping has hit a three-year high. Some 46% thought box line rates would rise, with only 12% thinking they would fall. And many expressed cautious optimism for the next 12 months. Let’s hope they are right.
