East African import trades look set to strengthen further as Samsung plans to open an assembly plant in Nairobi before the end of the year, following its new plant in Addis Ababa. It should see Samsung increase its African sales from $250m in 2011 to $2bn in 2015. All the equipment will initially be shipped in for assembly. Samsung joins Nokia Siemens, Airtel, Nestle and PepsiCola in choosing Nairobi as the centre of African operations. Africa is finally on the up.
