The war of words between Middle Eastern and European carriers continues. This time, it’s German-born Uli Ogiermann, now head of Qatar Airways Cargo, pointing out that lack of traffic rights into Germany doesn’t chime with the EU’s environmental policies, as the Doha-based carrier has to truck cargo to wherever it has uplift in Europe. Even if that is the case, however, it seems very likely that the local carrier incumbent – and its government – will give in to the demands of Qatar.
