More bad news for National Air Cargo. It has lost a four-year legal libel battle with the Buffalo News, on a story concerning a 2007 plea agreement with the US Defense department. The carrier, which had to pay out $28m, pleaded guilty to a single count of making a false statement, but admitted to behaviour that cost the government $4.4m over a three-year period starting in 1999. National’s owner, Christopher Alf, felt that the media reports were misleading. But the State Court of Appeals feels otherwise.
