Freight Deadbeats, a website that warns the industry about companies which have not paid their bills, has updated its lists. It publicises the name of forwarders in debt, and non-paying shippers.

Currently on its name-and-shame list is a company in Guatemala owing more than $75,000, and shippers ranging from India to Sharjah and Brazil which owe forwarders money.

The site also sums up the latest scams and frauds in the business. One company operating in Shenzhen, for example, waits until it has possession of the cargo, delays it through paperwork errors and then asks for additional funds of $500 a day before the cargo is released. Fascinating reading.
