Well, new questions have been raised as to the viability of the ACMI model this year. An unidentified customer has ordered four 777Fs from Boeing, and in this interesting article from Cargo Facts, it looks like Saudia Cargo could be the customer. What then, asks the inimitable David Harris, is the future for its ACMI aircraft? According to a recent interview in Airline Cargo Management with cargo chief Peter Scholten, however, the ACMI deals that Saudia has with companies such as MyCargo, are low risk opportunities for using additional space. Perhaps, though, that’s simply until more fuel efficient aircraft join the fleet.
