MyFerryLink is the phoenix that rose from the ashes of SeaFrance. Run as a collective by former SeaFrance workers – and at whose doorstep the blame for the demise of the company had been laid – it was always going to struggle in the highly competitive cross-Channel trades. It came as little surprise when channel tunnel operator Eurotunnel stepped in to buy the three ex-SeaFrance vessels, Rodin, Berlioz and Nord Pas de Calais, for €65m last year with the intention of leasing them back to MyFerrryLink. But the UK’s competition commission appears set on blocking the deal.
