An interesting review here by Dachser on the logistics sector’s response to the spike in DIY activity during lockdown. According to a study by Accenture, consumer online purchases of DIY tools and materials jumped by almost 10% during the crisis.
More significant is that the management consultant predicts online purchases in a sector of hitherto “infrequent e-commerce consumers” will stabilise at the new level post-crisis. “The demands placed on DIY suppliers and retailers by consumers are changing dynamically, now more than ever,” says the report.
