Ireland’s seafood exporters, which have seen exports to Asia rise 34%, are hoping to increase annual sales to €1bn by 2017, a rise of 23% from 2013. With a plan to follow the path taken by the dairy sector, which invested and saw corresponding growth, the seafood sector is looking to build scale. Forecasts suggest the global demand for fish will rise by 42m tonnes per annum by 2030.
