The BBC has reported that a cargo plane has crashed into a house in Tehran, killing 15 people. The Boeing 707 came off the runway at Fath Airport, smashing through a wall before hitting the house. Only one of the 16 crew was pulled from the wreckage alive. According to a spokesperson for Iran’s army, all those involved in the crash were Iranian citizens. The Saha Air military plane was transporting lamb meat to Iran from Kyrgyzstan.
Iran is one of the last countries still using 707s; US sanctions have prevented carriers in the country from buying new planes and accessing parts.
