Long-suffering airlines using congested Chennai Airport can expect a better service from August. Cargo clearance at the airport takes around five days, while charges are incurred after 72 hours. But the new air freight station should be able to deliver cargo after two days – and won’t charge until five days. The station can consolidate import cargo destined for other cities, while the web management system allows cargo to be tracked.
