Disturbing story if you plan to do most of your sourcing in China. Its supply of cheap labour – rural peasants moving to the cities in search of work – is running out, and much quicker than Beijing originally calculated. By 2020, its surfeit of labour will have vanished, and as a result of its one-child policy and an ageing population, may well have to begin importing migrant workers to plug the gap.
