3M makes some 65,000 products, produced in 214 plants, in 41 countries. A US company, it sells about two-thirds of its goods abroad, and half of its goods are made in the US. It’s not surprising to hear that it is attempting to remove all the ‘hairballs’ in its supply chain in a bid to cut shipping costs. A simple tale about removing complexity.
