Piracy globally may have declined during the first nine months of this year, but concern lingers over the frequency of attacks in the Gulf of Guinea and South-east Asia. Marine Link reports vigilance is also required in the waters around Venezuela and Libya following attacks and attempted boardings. While Somalia remained incident-free during the three months to September, the report also stresses that there are still pirates in the area with the capacity to target merchant vessels from the coastline.
