AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has lured Georges Biwer from Cargolux, where he was vice-president Africa, to become its vice-president EMEA.

Mr Biwer will be looking after the Russian carrier’s scheduled business operations in a region that includes the Middle East and Africa, and is expected to help expand the airline’s reach.

ABC executive president Denis Ilin said: “EMEA is one of the key markets for our scheduled business operations. Mr Biwer’s appointment is in line with our further expansion plans and our determination to build the best air cargo team in the industry for the benefit of our customers.”

According to his LinkedIn entry, Mr Biwer has 24 years’ experience in the air cargo industry, and has already started at ABC.

Parent Volga Dnepr Group appears to have been hiring new talent across Europe. It said: “Strong management leadership is a core component of ABC’s future growth strategy. ABC intends to combine ambitious young talent from within its parent company with the extensive experience of top industry professionals.

“This will ensure the airline achieves a fresh outlook on the industry and customers’ current and future needs in order to deliver proactive and highly professional services.”
