JULY 15, 2020 – Global logistics provider, GEFCO, has delivered 50 million medical masks from China to Australia for a leading provider of supplies for frontline health services.
GEFCO has shipped 1600 cubic metres of medical supplies to date, starting from April 01, via commercial and charter flights, including converted passenger to cargo planes.
The shipments were sourced and transported from various locations in China – including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xiamen and Hong Kong – and delivered to airports in Melbourne and Sydney.
Meticulous care was required to manage schedules and organise the last mile process, including palletized solutions to meet specifications, through to the end warehouse provision.
GEFCO also worked closely with the local buying agent to navigate the ongoing changes required with China Customs for PPE exports in recent months.
Peter West, Country Director for Australia and New Zealand, commented: “We are very proud to support our customers during this crucial time and help them navigate this fast-changing environment.”
“Our team’s ability to deliver an out-of-the-box solution that met extremely tight deadlines, while ensuring shipments complied with complex regulatory requirements, is admirable.”
