We cannot add much to this excellent obituary from Lloyd’s Loading List that follows the untimely loss of John van Bergen, other than to agree wholeheartedly with the comments of his many friends and colleagues.
I knew John as a colleague at Cory Bros, and later on as a customer of Eurofeeders at Felixstowe, as well as an enthusiastic supporter of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and its education programme.
As Chris Gray says, “John usually had a smile on his face”, and it mattered not what the circumstances were.
