National Air Cargo looks set to be fined $77,000 for the improper loading of military cargo, which appeared to cause the tragic crash of a 747F at Bagram, killing all seven crew. Footage of the accident, (which you can see here, but be warned, it is distressing) in 2012, showed the aircraft rising then pitching sharply, indicating that the cargo – which included five armoured vehicles – could have shifted, possibly after a chain or tiedown failed. The investigation by the NTSB is continuing, and there will be a public hearing on July 14.
