Ethiopia is to quadruple its freight capacity at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport to make it the largest transhipment hub in Africa. Not surprisingly, the focus will be on perishable goods and will have a cool storage area. The county is also planning to build a ‘mega-hub’ airport, in the second biggest infrastructure development project in the country, some 70km outside the capital city.
