As EU and US negotiators reconvene in Washington this week to continue thrashing out the details of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), the issue continues to split business and social groups in Europe. Business wants the barriers to trade removed, social groups are worried that those barriers protect jobs, social security and health standards. The devil, as always, will be in the detail, but sine so few details have actually been divulged from the secretive negotiations it’s hard to know who is right and wrong.
