Here, in an excellent snapshot read the international shipping association, BIMCO, reflects on the significant events of last year that shaped the industry’s sectors and lists its aspirations for 2016.
BIMCO concludes that 2015 was a year that “never really took off”, despite a promising start, and said that its hopes for this year are waning: “Shipping should brace itself for yet another challenging year,” it warned.
“The unpredictability of China’s market forces is really causing some concern,” said BIMCO, but nevertheless suggests there could be “positive surprises” coming from Europe and Japan in the year ahead.
Let’s all hope for more of the latter.
