Now that most of the third-quarter results are in, one salient feature of the recent period of container shipping is that the bigger carriers appear to be scooping up most of the growth in cargo. Despite the fact that the economy of Europe hardly feels as if it’s skipping along, the latest statistics unequivocally show that volume growth has returned to Asia-North Europe, and has been there for some time on the transpacific. However, according to this analysis from Drewry, only some of the lines are seeing their carryings rise correspondingly.
