Who would have thought it? Pharmaceuticals giant GlaxoSmithKline revealed in an earnings call a few weeks ago that it has been re-modelling its supply chain to be more like that of an FMCG manufacturer – locating production facilities closer to end markets and utilising spare capacity in underused plants has shortened time of goods in logistics’ and taken out costs.
