Procurement has recently been much derided by logistics organisations, concerned that companies are compromising on quality for the sake of cost. This interesting short article looks at Apple’s decision to source more in the US – and compares a procurement decision made by Boston’s fish restaurants, which failed to communicate adequately with suppliers and are now suffering the consequences. They have been charging customers for expensive fish, while serving cheaper ones. This experience suggests that communication is king.
