On Saturday, Abu Dhabi’s ambitious $7bn Khalifa Port project welcomed its first commercial customer, the MSC Bari. Although the port is not due to open officially until later this year, Saturday’s celebrations were what one might expect from the Emirate – with the port’s cranes showing off their abilities with a display of synchronised ‘dancing’, and 100-metre water fountains spraying out from tugboats.
