A story map - how giant container ports stitch together the global economy

This is a really cool. An interactive map showing the fifty largest container ports and their volumes, the size of the trade lanes between them ? and it has satellite maps showing the ports themselves. Not quite hours of fun, but definitely worth a few clicks to see a tangible picture of world trade by sea.

Freeport Grand Bahama is a major transshipment hub for MSC. It does not even appear on this map.

  This is the top 50 container ports – big as Freeport is, I’m pretty sure it’s outside the top 50.
