The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and the EU have agreed to unlimited cargo flights between the two blocs, as they come close to finalising a comprehensive air transport agreement (CATA). The news will likely be welcomed by cargo carriers eyeing Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia in particular as new sourcing locations, if the trade stand-off between the US and China continues. The agreement will allows freighters unlimited third, fourth and fifth freedom rights. Passenger aircraft will have unlimited third and fourth freedom rights, but fifth freedom remains a sticking point
