It may not be London mayor-elect Sadiq Khan’s first choice, but a parliamentary committee has backed expansion of Heathrow, in line with the recommendation of the two-year investigation by the Davies Commission. Despite the current UK government’s exceptional ability to make wildly unpopular decisions, airport expansion has apparently been a step too far, and it continues to kick decision-making into the long grass, much to the frustration of the UK’s logistics industry.
The issue will be discussed by panellists, including Heathrow’s head of cargo, at the Multimodal event at Birmingham’s NEC on Wednesday.
