A Q&A piece between the organisers of the forthcoming Cool Logistics Global conference in Bruges at the end of this month, and Maersk’s departing head of reefers, Thomas Eskesen, who is set to moderate the first day of the event. Mr Eskesen led Maersk’s reefer shipping department for a decade and it would be no exaggeration to say he is one of the figures that has shaped the industry during that period. “The reefer container transport industry has to find a way to deal with the slowing returns that have hampered its development capabilities… Collaboration is critical. Most players are under pressure to improve margins and one-dimensional procurement is just a zero sum game.”
