It’s bad news for Cathay. Its new cargo handling subsidiary, Hong Kong Airport Services, managed to mislay a shipment containing about $660,000 in cash. The money had been among 13 bags containing NZ$10m, sent by security company G4S International and bound for the Bank of China. The bags were carried by trailer with no additional security guards. Two fell off the trailer, and were later found, but another remains missing. The airline has been urged to review its procedures.
