Panama Canal executive hits back at criticism from carriers and shipping associations over proposed toll increases, and argues that at least the canal authority had the courtesy to consult its customers over price hikes. Also, dismisses $30bn Nicaragua canal proposal – “there is insufficient demand to justify an investment of this magnitude”. Feisty stuff.
