It’s reassuring – if not surprising – that November’s air cargo FTK figures were up 4.2% year-on-year, while capacity grew 3.3%. Demand grew 0.8% on the previous month. Asian and Middle Eastern carriers benefited the most, according to this IATA data, up 5.9% and 12.9% respectively – and together they snaffled 93% of the growth. IATA noted that this year air freight demand growth (4.5%) is expected to outpace world trade (4%). But, added IATA chief Tony Tyler: “That optimism is tempered by the many macro-economic and political risks that continue to impact trade flows.”
