The war in the Middle East and the subsequent shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz this March has been a brutal reminder that modern supply chains are exposed to fast-moving events and sovereign risk.
For shippers, logistics providers and carriers the consequences were immediate: vessel transits collapsed from more than a hundred a day to single digits, tanker indices repriced dramatically and war-risk and insurance constraints turned movement into an operational as well as commercial problem almost overnight.
