Freightos founder and chief executive Zvi Schreiber is stepping down after 14 years at the helm of the digital freight booking platform, as the company prepares for its next phase of growth as a public company.

Dr Schreiber said that what began as “a dream” of a global freight booking platform had become a reality, with Freightos now listed on NASDAQ and supporting more than 1.6 million bookings annually.

The company works with thousands of freight forwarders, carriers, and importers and exporters worldwide to improve freight procurement, pricing, and booking.

While Dr Schreiber highlighted that the digitalisation of ocean freight was still in its early stages, he said he was proud of the team’s achievements and the company’s momentum in the market.

“As Freightos enters its next stage of growth, the board and I have agreed that the right thing for the company is to bring in a CEO whose experience is focused on scaling a global public company,” he said.

Dr Schreiber will step down as CEO to pursue other interests, but will remain involved as a director on the board. A search for a permanent successor is under way.

Freightos CFO Pablo Pinillos will assume the role of interim CEO from 1 February, working closely with the company’s management team. Dr Schreiber is expected to formally conclude his tenure as CEO around 31 January.

“I’m not going far,” he said, adding that he remains deeply committed to Freightos’ vision and to continuing to support the company and the wider freight industry in the boardroom.
