Press Release_M&M Militzer & Münch Mongolia LLC

St. Gallen, July 1, 2024. Logistics company Militzer & Münch keeps investing in Asia: on July 1, the new company M&M Militzer & Münch Mongolia LLC started operations.

Militzer & Münch has been active in Mongolia since 2000, but has so far managed operations from Berlin. The new country unit, a joint venture with a large, internationally operating trading company, is now taking over the local tasks independently. Thus, local customers as well as customers in cross-border traffic now have access to the full range of services offered by Militzer & Münch – road transport, air and sea freight, and project logistics. Moreover, M&M Militzer & Münch Mongolia LLC offers additional local services such as customs clearance and delivery. The country unit also plans to focus on opening up and developing further markets.

The new country unit is the latest in a series of strategic investments by Militzer & Münch in Asia: since 2022, Militzer & Münch has already opened its own locations in Vietnam and Indonesia. “The joint venture gives us important access to customers and business partners in Mongolia, and seamlessly integrates the country into our services,” says Nikolaus Kohler, Regional Managing Director Middle East / Central Asia at Militzer & Münch. “The acquisition fits into our strategy of growth in the most promising markets in Asia.”

Expanded portfolio

Since the democratic transition in 1990, Mongolia, one of the world’s ten most resource-rich countries, has been steadily developing from an agricultural to a commodity exporting country. Its main exports include coal, copper, gold and other mineral resources, as well as cashmere wool; most important trading partner is China.

Thomas Winter, Managing Director of M&M Militzer & Münch GmbH, Germany, emphasizes the importance of the new country unit for the Militzer & Münch network: “After almost 24 years of successfully developing business to and from Mongolia, it is time to take the next step. Our Berlin branch will continue to lead our Mongolian business and, together with M&M Militzer & Münch Mongolia LLC, will organize and further develop transports to and from Europe and within the European region. With this development step, we are further expanding our portfolio, and are able to offer our customers even better service and performance.”
