Tiaca chiefs remain in post for 'stability' as it eyes revival of major events

Tiaca has changed its bylaws to allow chair and vice-chair Steven Polmans (left) and Sanjeev Gadhia to remain in their positions.

The pair will serve another two years in their roles, following approval from the board of directors, who wanted leadership stability and a long-term focus for the association.

Tiaca has been forced, along with many organisations, to suspend events, but it expects to hold its 2022 executive summit in March and the profitable Air Cargo Forum, in Miami in November next year, under its existing leadership.

“I am grateful for the strong support the board has given me by this re-appointment,” said Mr Polmans.

“The industry and the association have recently faced many challenges, but have risen above them. I look forward to continuing the work that has already begun on ensuring the association is financially viable and can meet the needs of our members, who are the real drivers of this association.

“We will continue to ensure our efforts are membership- and content-driven and will focus on advocacy, partnership, knowledge, sustainability and events.”

Mr Gadhia added that there was “still a lot of work to do”.

He said: “I am proud of the work we have achieved. Transforming the association, particularly during such a difficult time for the industry, was quite an achievement.”

Under the leadership of Mr Polmans, Tiaca has modernised and introduced new benefits for members. However, the past two years are likely to have been financially challenging for the association, which in the past has relied on revenue from the Air Cargo Forum event.
