A self-confessed aviation geek, onemileatatime, has written a post about one of the world’s shortest flights: FedEx is running a daily round trip between San Diego and Tijuana, on a 757-200. It’s an 18-mile journey, which can be completed in six minutes – the question is why? As many commentators note, the land border can be slow, and perhaps it’s cheaper to fly to San Diego than put on a daily Tijuana-Memphis flight, a route FedEx discontinued earlier this year, according to comments. But environmentally, it could cause some concern. Thoughts?
