Adding to the woes of shippers struggling to secure space from Asia and paying a premium to ship out their containers, strong forward bookings from China to the US and Europe have resulted in depleted equipment stocks at depots.

Here, Hapag-Lloyd has introduced a “temporary measure” restricting the release of its equipment in China to just eight days prior to the ETA of the intended sailing.
